Manchester City enters the race for the services of Jarrad Branthwaite. The 21-year-old is having a brilliant season with Everton, and he is expected to start for England against Belgium.
Despite the high quality in defense that City possesses, with Gvardiol being their latest significant investment of £77 million, Guardiola aims to keep his team competitive.
The Spanish coach has always invested heavily in his defenders since his arrival in 2016, signing players like Walker, Stones, Laporte, Dias, and Gvardiol. Solid defense has often been the key to success for “The Citizens” in both domestic and European competitions.
Jarrad Branthwaite meets the criteria to be a City player, as he organizes the game excellently from the back, shares technical similarities with John Stones, and excels in aerial duels. Interest in Branthwaite has also been shown by Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Real Madrid, so the competition for the center-back will be high.
Everton is demanding £60 million for the sale of the 21-year-old. Last season, Branthwaite spent time on loan at PSV Eindhoven, being an undisputed starter throughout the season, while this year in the Premier League, he has played in 25 matches and scored two goals.
