Barcelona’s coach, Xavi, has addressed rumors that he might change his decision to leave Barcelona at the end of the current season.
In January, during a press conference, Xavi dropped the ‘bomb’ by stating he would leave Barcelona at the end of the season. Recently, there had been speculation suggesting that the Catalan coach might change his decision if the club ends the season with a trophy.
However, Xavi himself has denied this, stating that nothing has changed since the moment he announced his departure.
“Up to today, nothing has changed. There’s nothing more to it than that, it remains the same and we are focused on the next match,” Xavi said.
“It’s true that we have been doing well recently. I see the team in training every day and the group of players is less tense than before, but tomorrow is another story. Here at Barcelona, you have a mission every day. The moment of truth this season is coming, and we feel that we have been doing well in recent weeks,” the Spaniard expressed.
In his first full season at the helm of Barcelona, the 44-year-old led the club to the La Liga title and also helped them win the Spanish Super Cup, defeating Real Madrid in the final.
In the current season, the Catalan giant has struggled to find form. They failed to defend the Super Cup title, as Real Madrid defeated them in the final this time, and the Blaugranas were also eliminated from the Copa Del Rey after a 4-2 loss to Athletic Bilbao.
