Barcelona’s midfielder, Sergi Roberto, and wing-back Marcos Alonso are expected to leave this summer.
The veteran Roberto has made 14 appearances in all competitions this season, starting three times, scoring three goals, and providing one assist. The Spaniard has attracted interest from the Middle East and MLS, so he may be in the final months of his stay at Barca, where he has played his entire career.
Meanwhile, Alonso hasn’t been with the Catalans for long, since arriving from Chelsea in the summer of 2022. In 44 appearances in all competitions, he has scored three times but has only featured seven times this season, starting four times.
According to Barca Buzz, the reigning La Liga champions expect Roberto and Alonso to leave at the end of the season. They are eyeing Atletico Madrid’s Mario Hermoso, who could join on a free transfer. They would also like Manchester City loanee defender Joao Cancelo to stay.
The report also reveals that the club is very pleased with Hector Fort, who offers ‘an option’ on both flanks. Julian Araujo and Alex Valle are also performing at a high level and are expected to feature in the pre-season under a new coach following Xavi’s departure in the summer.
Roberto has had a dream career at Camp Nou, winning seven La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues. Meanwhile, Alonso won La Liga and the Supercopa Espana in his first season at the club in 2022-23.
