Napoli’s striker, Victor Osimhen, ‘wants’ Chelsea and desires to join the Premier League club, according to John Obi Mikel.
The Nigerian, who has scored 72 goals in 122 appearances for Napoli, has attracted interest from the Blues and Paris Saint-Germain ahead of the summer transfer window.
Napoli’s President, Aurelio de Laurentiis, has already confirmed that the striker, who has a release clause of around 130 million euros in his contract, will leave at the end of the season.
And Mikel, who shares a close relationship with Osimhen, claims that the 25-year-old is eager for a move to Stamford Bridge.
“I am still Osimhen’s agent, trying to get him to Chelsea! I have 20 percent of that deal, so I hope it works out,” Mikel said at the Web Summit in Qatar on Thursday. When asked if Osimhen joining Chelsea is a ‘real possibility,’ Mikel responded, “I think there is genuine interest from both sides. I think he loves the club, he wants to come to the club.”
“Of course, he wants to follow in my footsteps as a Nigerian player who has played for Chelsea – Victor Moses, Celestine Babayaro, not many of us. London too, a fantastic city, instead of going to Liverpool or places like that, you want to live in London.”
“But, he also has a lot of interest from other clubs. Paris Saint-Germain, Man United. I am still pressuring him, sending messages, trying to make sure he doesn’t wait too much, to narrow his mind to one club – the Blues,” Mikel added further.
