Team principals in Formula 1 have selected the top 10 drivers for the year 2023.
In the sixth consecutive year of this tradition, team bosses were tasked with choosing the ten best drivers. However, the assessments they provided remained confidential.
As expected, Dutch driver Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing was chosen as the best driver, securing his third consecutive world championship title in Formula 1 with a dominant performance. Max won 19 out of 22 races and finished with 290 more points than his teammate and runner-up, Sergio Perez.
However, Perez did not secure the second position in the team bosses’ selection; instead, he occupied the tenth spot. The second place went to veteran Fernando Alonso, who had an impressive first season with Aston Martin, claiming eight podiums and finishing fourth in the final driver standings.
McLaren’s star, Lando Norris, finished third with seven podiums, having been the runner-up six times in the previous season. Ferrari’s driver, Charles Leclerc, took the fourth position in the team principals’ selection.
The fifth position was claimed by Mercedes veteran Lewis Hamilton, who concluded his second consecutive season without a victory. Nevertheless, he secured the third spot in the driver standings at the end of the season.
